Can I Delete My Binance Account?

A Binance account can be deleted, but you must first clear all assets, close all active orders, and unbind APIs before submitting a deletion request through the account settings. Once the process is complete, the account will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. If you simply want to stop using it temporarily, freezing the account is usually sufficient and avoids permanent deletion. To continue using the platform, you can visit the Binance official website or open the Official Binance App. If you are an iPhone user unable to download it, refer to the iOS Installation Tutorial. Below is the complete deletion process and important considerations.

I. 6 Things You Must Do Before Deletion

1. Clear Spot and Funding Wallets

Go to Wallet → Overview and check the balances of all currencies. For all assets:

  • Sell them for USDT or BTC.
  • Withdraw them to an external wallet, or
  • Sell them for fiat currency via P2P.

Any residual assets will be unrecoverable after deletion, including small amounts like 0.0001 BTC.

2. Close All Futures Positions

Go to Futures → Positions and manually close all Perpetual and Delivery contract positions. Do not leave any open interest.

At the same time, transfer any assets from the margin account back to the Spot wallet.

3. Cancel Unfilled Orders

Check for incomplete orders in the following areas:

  • Spot Limit Orders
  • Stop-Profit/Stop-Loss Orders
  • OCO Orders
  • Grid Trading
  • Strategy Trading

Cancel all of them, or the deletion process will be blocked.

4. Exit All Earn Products

  • Locked Staking: Wait for maturity or redeem early (which may result in loss of interest).
  • Flexible Savings: Redeem immediately.
  • Dual Investment: Wait until the settlement date.
  • Launchpool Mining: Exit.
  • Liquidity Farming: Unstake.

5. Unbind API Keys

Go to Security Center → API Management and click "Delete" for all API keys. If you have accounts running quantitative trading bots, ensure the bots are offline.

6. Close Sub-accounts

If you have sub-accounts, you must delete all sub-accounts first before deleting the master account. The deletion process for sub-accounts is identical to that of the master account.

II. Steps to Submit a Deletion Request

Step 1: Enter Account Center

Log in to Binance → Click the profile icon in the top right → AccountSecurity.

Step 2: Find the "Close Account" Entrance

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Account Activity → Close Account." In some older interfaces, you may need to submit a request via a Customer Support ticket.

Step 3: Complete Identity Verification

The system will require:

  1. Entering your Login Password.
  2. Entering the Email Verification Code.
  3. Entering the SMS Verification Code or Google 2FA.
  4. Completing Face Recognition (on mobile).

All four verifications are mandatory to prevent malicious deletion by others.

Step 4: Fill in the Reason for Deletion

Select a reason (No longer using / Switching accounts / Other). This step does not affect the audit result, so you can choose any option.

Step 5: Wait for the Cooling-off Period

After submission, there is a 7-day cooling-off period, during which you can cancel the deletion request at any time. Once the period ends, the system deletes the account automatically.

During the cooling-off period, the account is frozen, and you cannot trade, deposit, or log in to the App to perform operations.

III. Consequences of Deletion

Impact 1: Account Is Unrecoverable

Once the cooling-off period has passed, the data is permanently cleared. The same ID can be used to re-register, but historical transaction records, VIP levels, and points will all be reset to zero.

Impact 2: Wait Period for the Same Phone/Email

After successful deletion, the same phone number and email address cannot be used to register a new account for 90 days. To re-open an account immediately, you must use a different phone number and email.

Impact 3: Retention of Identity Information

In accordance with KYC compliance requirements, ID and facial information will be retained for 5 years. This is a regulatory requirement and is the same for any exchange.

Impact 4: Referral Commissions Terminate

If you are a referrer, commissions from your invitees will also stop after deletion. Consider this carefully before deciding.

IV. Scenarios Where Deletion Is Not Recommended

Scenario 1: Just Not Using It Temporarily

If you are just not using it, simply stop logging in. Binance does not charge account maintenance fees. Keeping the account costs nothing.

Scenario 2: Wanting to Change Login Information

You can change your email or phone number directly in the Account Settings without needing to delete and re-register.

Scenario 3: Fear of Risk Control

Using the account normally will not trigger risk control. Deleting and re-registering may actually trigger risk control, which is counterproductive.

Scenario 4: Concern About Account Theft

Setting a strong password + 2FA + Anti-Phishing Code is sufficient; deletion is not necessary.

V. Alternative: Freezing the Account

If you are only concerned about fund security, you can:

  1. Security Center → Freeze Account.
  2. Enter password + 2FA.
  3. Choose the freeze duration (24 hours / 7 days / Permanent).

After a permanent freeze, the assets remain in the account, and you can unfreeze it if you want to use it again in the future, which is much more flexible than deletion.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Can I delete my account if it still has 1 USDT? A: No. The balance must be zero to submit a request. Balances below the minimum withdrawal threshold can be converted to BNB via Convert and then withdrawn.

Q2: Can I re-register with the same ID after deletion? A: Yes. You can register again with the same ID and facial recognition, but you will need to use a new phone number and email (due to the 90-day cooldown on the original ones).

Q3: Can I cancel the deletion during the cooling-off period? A: Yes. You can log in at any time within 7 days and click "Cancel Deletion" to restore the account.

Q4: How long does deletion take? A: From submitting the request to permanent deletion, it takes 7-10 days in total.

Q5: Will deletion affect my credit or legal records? A: No. Binance is a cryptocurrency platform and has no connection to domestic credit reporting systems.
