How to Recover Your Binance Account Password

The method to recover your Binance account password is very simple: on the login page, click "Forgot Password", enter your registered email, and then follow the prompts in the email link to reset it. The entire process can usually be completed within 5 minutes. You can visit the Binance Official Site or download the Binance Official APP to perform these steps. If iPhone users cannot open the APP, please refer to the iOS Installation Guide. After successfully resetting your password, your account will enter a 24-hour withdrawal cooling-off period, which is a universal security mechanism for global exchanges.

Preparations Before Password Recovery

Before starting the recovery process, have these three things ready: the email used for registration, a phone that can receive SMS, and your Google Authenticator. If any of these are unavailable, the recovery process will become much more complex, requiring you to go through the appeal channel.

Ensure You Can Still Log Into Your Email

Your email is the core of password recovery, as the system will send a reset link to your registered email address. If you've also forgotten your email password, it's recommended to first recover your email account with your provider before dealing with your Binance account.

Check if the Email Was Intercepted

Some email providers automatically route emails from exchanges to the spam or promotions folder. If you haven't seen the email after 5 minutes, be sure to check those folders. Gmail users can simply type "binance" in the search bar to quickly locate all related emails.

Standard Recovery Process

Step 1: Visit the Login Page

Open the Binance official website or APP. On the login interface, after entering your account, there will be a blue text link saying "Forgot Password?" below. Click it to enter the recovery process.

Step 2: Enter Registered Email

The system will ask you to confirm the email associated with your account. After entering it, you will also need to complete a slider verification to prove you aren't a robot. The slider must be dragged smoothly to the end in one go; any pauses midway will be judged as a failure.

Step 3: Receive the Email and Click the Link

The email will arrive within 1-2 minutes. The subject is usually "Password Reset Request" or something similar. Inside is a secure link; clicking it will redirect you to the page to set a new password. The link is valid for 30 minutes, and you will need to apply again if it expires.

Step 4: Set a New Password

The new password must meet these requirements: at least 8 characters, containing uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols. It cannot be the same as any of your last 5 used passwords. It is recommended to use a password manager to generate a strong password.

Step 5: Complete Security Verification

After setting a new password, the system will ask you to complete a 2FA verification (if you had it enabled). Enter the 6-digit code from your Google Authenticator, or an SMS verification code, to complete the entire reset process.

Handling Missing Reset Emails

Troubleshoot 1: Blocked by Email Provider

Domestic email providers like 163 or QQ sometimes block emails sent from overseas. It is highly recommended to prioritize using Gmail as your registered email for Binance, as the delivery rate is close to 100%. If you are using a domestic email, you can go to the "Anti-spam settings" and whitelist the binance.com domain.

Troubleshoot 2: Email Sending Delay

During network congestion or when Binance's systems are busy, emails might be delayed by 3-5 minutes. If you still haven't received it after 10 minutes, click the "Resend" button. Note that clicking send continuously for more than 3 times will trigger a rate limit, requiring a 30-minute wait.

Troubleshoot 3: Email Account Deactivated

If your email account has been deactivated or you have forgotten its password, you cannot recover it through the standard process. In this case, you need to go through account appeal by submitting ID documents and a facial recognition video for manual review by customer service. The processing time for appeals is typically 2-5 working days.

Account Appeal Process

Select "Account Appeal" on the login page and provide the following information as required: the approximate time of registration, common IP region, previously traded coins, and the time of your last login. The more detailed the information, the higher the chance of passing the review.

Then upload photos of the front and back of your ID and a selfie video holding your ID. The video should be recorded in a well-lit environment, with both your face and the ID clearly visible. Once submitted, you will receive an appeal ticket number, which you can use to check the progress.

Important Notes After Resetting

24-Hour Withdrawal Restriction

Within 24 hours after successfully resetting your password, your account will be restricted from withdrawing cryptocurrencies and withdrawing fiat. During this time, you can still trade normally, view balances, and make deposits. This restriction is mandatory and cannot be lifted early by customer service.

Check Account Security Settings

Immediately check the following items after resetting your password: whether there are unfamiliar devices in the login device list, whether there are anomalies with your API keys, whether your email or phone number has been tampered with, and whether your withdrawal whitelist addresses are intact. Contact customer service immediately if you find any anomalies.

Re-enable 2FA

If you hadn't enabled Google Authenticator previously, it is strongly recommended to do so right after resetting your password. 2FA can reduce the risk of account theft by over 95% and is the most fundamental and important security measure.

FAQ

Q1: Will my previous assets still be there after recovering my password?

Completely unaffected. Resetting your password only changes your login credentials and does not touch any assets in your account. After the reset is complete, logging in will show the same holdings, orders, and history as before.

Q2: Can I use my old password as the new one?

No. The Binance system records your last 5 used passwords, and the new password cannot be the same as any of them. This prevents users from using weak passwords long-term and enhances account security.

Q3: Will resetting my password consecutively get my account banned?

Resetting 2-3 times within a day is considered normal operation and will not result in a ban. However, if you repeatedly trigger the reset process in a short period, the system will judge it as abnormal behavior and temporarily freeze the account for 24 hours, which must be resolved through customer service appeals.

Q4: Is there a difference in the recovery process between the mobile and web versions?

The process is identical for both, requiring email verification. The difference is that the APP automatically fills in device information, offering higher security, making it the recommended method.

Q5: Do I need to verify when logging in after a password reset?

Yes. When logging in with the new password for the first time, the system detects the password change and requires you to complete one of the three verification methods: email, SMS, or 2FA. This prevents malicious resets and ensures you are the one operating. Once verified, the device will be added to the trusted list, and subsequent logins will not require re-verification.
